hurricane watch: day 1

above: view from my backyard on Aug. 19

as i write this, Fay is still a tropical storm and is heading towards the Atlantic. that would be all good if the projected path didn't have the storm upgrade into a hurricane and then head back west and make land again in Jacksonville.

usually hurricanes don't bother me, but i've only experienced a head-on hit from one once. i've lived through about 7 hurricanes, and about 5 tropical storms. i remember the year when i was on vacation here in Florida and we got hit with a ton of hurricanes in the span of a few weeks. but this damn storm looks like it's gonna be a bitch.

the one good thing about living in Florida during hurricane season is that our state government if well prepared for such a disaster. basically, we'll never have a catastrophe on the scale of Katrina.

oh well, i guess i gotta go board up the windows. as long as we still have power, i'll keep this thing updated.
