anyway, despite that the only other "exciting" thing to happen today was the arrival of my new watch, which is blue and has the National Championship logo on the face. yes it is awesome. no i will never lose my excitement over Florida winning the National Championship. not anytime soon anyway.
AWESOME MUSIC ALERT!
i've been listening to some new music this week:
My new favorite lyricist Max Bemis (of Say Anything) and Chris Conley (of Saves the Day) have joined forces to create the awesome Two Tongues. their self-titled album comes out this coming Tuesday, but you can hear the whole thing right now. i have to say it's probably my favorite album of the year so far (even though it's still January) but it's really good, has some good lyrics, and some really catchy hooks. if you like either Say Anything or Saves the Day, or if you wanna know what good lyrics are like, check this album out.
another album that combines two great singers and lyricists, Fiction Family is the result of Switchfoot's Jon Foreman and Nickel Creek's Sean Watkins. it's mostly acoustic and rather folksy, but still retains the high spirits and lightheartedness of Jon's work with Switchfoot. the first song on the record, "When She's Near" sums up the entire record: relaxed, catchy, and airy. if you want a good album to chill out to, then you could do a lot worse than Fiction Family. i suggest you check it out.

i have always loved Franz Ferdinand, and have been eagerly awaiting their next release. their self-titled debut was awesome, their second album, "You Could Have It So Much Better", took what worked (and some of what didn't work) from the first record and built on their sound but still retained the dance-pop sound they made a name of themselves with. now 4 years after their second album their back with "Tonight: Franz Ferdinand", and it is easily their best work yet. believe it or not, their music is more suited for the dance floor than ever before, and they even shake things up in the second half of the record, with ballads and slower acoustic songs. there is obvious influence from the Kinks here and it just adds to the raddness of the album.
well that's my ramble for today. let's see what gets me going tomorrow.
