Raditude?

Maybe you know and maybe you don't, but I've been listening to Weezer longer than any other band. "The Blue Album" is one of my favorite records of all time. "Pinkerton" is right up there, and even though it wasn't received very well and is kind of cheesy, I still really like "The Red Album". That album came out just over a year ago, and still Weezer is releasing another new collection of music. It's called "Raditude" (a name suggested by Rainn Wilson of The Office) and here's the cover art:

Now I know what you're thinking. And yes, that is some weird-ass shit. But hear me out.

Despite the wacky name and equally wacky picture of a flying dog, Weezer streamed the album on MySpace and I listened to it. I was expecting the worst. But, somehow, it's actually pretty good.

With songs like "I'm Your Daddy" and "Can't Stop Partying" (which includes a guest verse by Lil' Wayne) you might infer that this album would suck ass. But for some reason, it all makes sense. I couldn't see any other band making an album or songs like this other than Weezer. No, it's not their best (not even their 4th best) but it's good. An considering some of the letdowns Weezer have had in the past (ahem, I'm looking at you Maladroit) "Raditude" is not bad.

I'll have a full review when the album comes out next week.
