[Video Games] Heavy Rain = Game of the Year?

We may only be two months into the new year but I think I might have played the best game of the year already. Heavy Rain is the new adventure/interactive drama from Quantic Dream, the makers of another one of my favorite games, Indigo Prophecy. It's not as much of a game as it is an interactive movie, but that doesn't mean you aren't in full control. Every choice you make ends up altering the way the story unfolds and how it will ultimately end. Now it's hard to describe the story of Heavy Rain without giving away too much, but the main plot revolves around four characters in their search for a crazed serial killer. And be warned, this game is not for kids, as it has some extremely adult themes and situations in it, some that even made me cringe and actually are still floating around in my mind right now.

On top of that, the game looks amazing, it's well written, and it has some great acting in it (even though some times the dialogue and voice overs can be silly). The story is phenomenal and has enough twists and turns to keep you guessing until the ending. And like I said, every choice you make influences the outcome, and that means there are multiple endings (22 to be exact). I've finished it once and am going back through it again to see what I can do to change the way it plays out, and so far some of the smallest actions have wielded the biggest changes.

So if you have a PS3 and are looking for something completely different and original, I say so out and buy Heavy Rain. You won't be disappointed.
