Since I reviewed this album a few weeks ago, I've had some more time to really dig into the it. Once the initial reaction of "wow this is really great" wore off, I realized there really is a truly great record here. It's hard to really explain why this album is so good; it doesn't sound too much different from any other Switchfoot album (though a few songs are heavier than anything Switchfoot ever did) and doesn't do anything too brave. But what it does is refine the Switchfoot formula and really represents everything you love about Switchfoot. I guess you can consider "Hello Hurricane" as a retrospective, if you will. It embodies all of Switchfoot's prior work while moving forward at the same time.
